We will meet at 9am near the trailhead at Hacklebarney State Park, one of my favorite spots of all time. Due to Covid restrictions, the trails are all one-way. The state's website (below) shows the various trails. We will do the red loop and return with the yellow back to the parking area. Our hike will take approximately 1 1/2 hours; the park will not be crowded at that hour. The trails are largely clear but sometimes narrow and uneven with roots and small rocks. If you would like to do a caravan, let me know. We would gather at CHS at about 8:30 to get there by 9. The park entrance can be a little hard to find if you've never been. Bring masks, cameras, water, a snack....see you there! Dogs are ALWAYS welcome at Hacklebarney, too! We will meet at 9:00 am at Cushetunk Mountain Preserve on Saturday 20 March for our second hike! The parking area is very easy to find- it's at the intersection of Old Mountain Rd. and Railroad Ave, right by the train tracks. Address: 106 Old Mountain Rd. Lebanon, NJ 08833. I estimate the hike to be approx. 1 1/2 hours. If some of you want to splinter off and extend the hike, that's an option. As you can see from the map, the trail does continue into Whitehouse, behind Pickell Park. Here is the trail map: https://www.co.hunterdon.nj.us/depts/parks/ParkAreas/Cushetunk/trailmap.pdf Looking forward to seeing everyone! Wear sturdy shoes and bring water and masks. Thank you everybody for joining in this hike. Happy Spring! If you have any photos to share, send them to me and I will add them here.
